Great Road Farm makes its home on 112 acres of beautiful, preserved farm land in Skillman, NJ 4 miles from downtown Princeton.
About half of these acres remain wild and wooded while the other half are split into fields. 2012 marked our first season beginning with 3.5 acres in vegetable crop production, and we now have over seven acres.
Our goal is to bring familiar favorites to your plate, while expanding your palate. Over 120 varieties of vegetables will come from these fields this year: from arugula to zucchini and herbs to salad mix. Our growing methods focus on flavor and sustainability from using bio-intensive techniques on our one acre of permanent raised beds, while building the soil through cover cropping and crop rotation for the rest of our fields. In 2015, Great Road Farm attained Organic Certification.
As stewards of our farmland, we are also stewards of your health providing nutritious, wholesome food under the guidance of a thoughtful and deliberate food safety program.
Meet Our Farmer
Farmer Kyle Goedde grew up in Hillsborough, NJ in a family of avid vegetable gardeners. His experience of backyard gardening and enjoying fresh produce from an early age guided his path towards farming. After studying political science at Rutgers, Kyle travelled to Hawaii to work on organic farms through the WWOOF (Willing Workers On Organic Farms) program. It was while picking coffee and avocados his passion for farming grew and he began pursuing farming as a career. Upon returning to his home state of New Jersey, Kyle found work and training within North Slope Farm’s apprenticeship program from 2010-2013. In 2014, Kyle joined the crew at Great Road Farm, working with friend and fellow North Slope trainee Steve Tomlinson. From 2015 to 2016 Kyle co-founded and ran his own farm, Harvest Moon Organic Farm, at the NOFA-NJ incubator program on the Duke Estate in Hillsborough, NJ. In February of 2017, Kyle was thrilled to be offered and accept the position of farm manager here at Great Road Farm. Farming now for nearly 8 years, Kyle continues to hone his skill as a farmer and remains passionate about the sometimes difficult, but always rewarding work of organic vegetable farming.
