Our first market is this Sunday at McGolrick Park in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. I am fond of Brooklyn because I lived there for eight years and had a great time working as an artist, fabricator, and designer. When I started farming I always looked forward to the day I could use the skills I learned in the city and apply them to the agricultural world. My new role as farm manager at Great Road Farm allows me to apply my skill set to our market stand. I sourced local white pine wood from Sweet Sourland Farms. I happen to drive by this farm on my daily commute to work and I’m very enthusiastic with the wood they mill. The white pine has been a pleasure to work with and it is sustainably harvested and extremely local. The prices were even better then Home Depot! Making connections with local farms and using the resources in our community is what excites me about farming. The market display is built out and ready to display a bounty of vegetables. Come on out to our market stand and see what we have created!
